Event description

Music in the Regions in partnership with Navigate Arts present Arcadia Winds in concert.

Light supper will be available for purchase at interval.

Pictures in Arcadia will take audiences on a sensory journey across the globe, showcasing the ensemble’s craft as storytellers, vibrant musicians, and strong advocates for new Australian music.

Following the expressive Serenade by Strauss, be taken on a playful journey through Debussy’s Children’s Corner, before being swept away by the motion of Meridian, composed as part of the annual Arcadia Winds Composition Prize by contemporary Australian composer Harry Sdraulig. Completing the first half of the program is the virtuosic, high-octane showpiece for wind instruments which is Coleman’s Tzigane. Finally, Arcadia Winds will bring new dimensions to a familiar work, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, an excellent demonstration of the ensemble’s innovative arrangements for the unique sounds of wind quintet.
