Arcadian Surf Club's 2023 'Great Inflatable Race'

Get your friends together, grab an inflatable toy, raft, boat, pineapple or anything that will float, dress up in whatever fancy dress you like, and set off in Arcadian Surf Club's 'Great Inflatable Race'!!

A part of the 2023 SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week's Townsville Airport Father's Day at Picnic Bay event, the 'Great Inflatable Race' will set off along two courses, a shorter one for children aged 13 years and under (young children must be accompanied by an adult) and a longer course for everyone else, around and under the iconic Picnic Bay Jetty.

There will be great prizes for the winner of each category listed below, as well as best dressed individual and best dressed team. So get those costumes sorted now!

Entry categories and fees are as follows:

• Individual Child up to the age of 13 (young children must be accompanied by an adult) - $5.00 each (Accompanying adult free of charge)
• Individual Teens/Adults aged 14 years and over - $10.00 each
  
• Teams - two or more participants up to a max of 10 - $15.00 per team

Registrations on the beach will open at 10am and the race will start at approx. 11am.

There will be an 'Inflation Station' set up on the day to inflate your race "craft" and we'll also have some spare inflatables to purchase if you don't want to bring one along.

By taking part in this fun event you will also be supporting your local lifesavers, who provide our community with safe beaches via volunteer patrols, youth education programs, water safety services for community sporting events and surf lifesaving training courses, so THANK YOU!!

Race Terms & Conditions

• Arcadian Surf Life Saving Club will provide qualified lifesavers on paddle boards and Inflatable Rescue Boats to monitor all participants in the water around both courses. We will also provide qualified First Aid personnel on the beach.
• Participants must only paddle on an inflatable raft/toy/floating device. Oars can be used to paddle on the inflatable.
• Participants are not permitted to use an inflatable device that could be considered by the organisers or members of the general public as an “adult toy”. Any participant that brings such inflatable devices will not be allowed to participate unless they can use an acceptable alternative. If participants cannot take part in the event for this reason an entry fee refund will not be provided.
• Participants must remain on the inflatable at all times, swimming is not allowed. If a participant falls into the water, they must get back up on the inflatable before continuing along the course.
• Participants are strongly encouraged to dress up in fancy dress, however it is not a pre-requisite to enter.
• Participants must abide by all directions and requests made by Arcadian SLSC water safety members and organisers while participating in the activity, including at the start line and during the course.
• Winners of each category will be determined by Arcadian SLSC representatives, and all decisions are final.
• Arcadian SLSC event organisers reserve the right to refuse entry into the activity for any fair and reasonable cause.
• Arcadian SLSC event organisers reserve the right to disqualify any participant who is not acting in a sportsmanlike manner, as determined by the organisers.
• Participants deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as determined by the Arcadian SLSC event organisers, will be unable to participate due to safety concerns.
• All event registrations are confirmed once the entry fee has been paid.
• Full refunds of the entry fee will only be provided if participants cancel their registration at least five days prior to the event day.
• No refunds will be given if registration is cancelled less than five days prior to the event.
