Archaeology Symposium 2025: Unearthed
Event description
This free, public symposium complements the National Museum of Australia’s current Pompeii exhibition, with a keynote talk considering critical, interesting archaeological questions related to the professional investigation of this important site. Other expert speakers will unearth a wide range of fascinating archaeological topics, followed by a Q&A panel of the speakers. It will be held in the Peninsula Room, NMA.
The Symposium theme this year is ‘Unearthed’. This theme, ideal for archaeology, is interpreted here as a reference to simple uncovery of something new, unrecognised, forgotten, or possibly perceived or recognised from a different perspective. This might be done by using archaeological techniques of investigation, whether through survey, observation, excavation, analysis, remote sensing or other methods.
