EXPANDING PRACTICE: 100% Architecture is the fourth biennial ArchiTeam conference, this year's conference will be a hybrid event online and face-to-face at the Melbourne Museum on Friday 16 May 2025.

EXPANDING PRACTICE: 100% Architecture is a forum aimed to empower small practice architects to move beyond ‘business as usual’ and expand their influence in shaping the built environment and communities across Australia. The conference will feature engaging sessions that explore how architects can define their purpose, embrace collaboration, and adopt alternative and non-traditional approaches to practice.

The conference will be creatively directed by Nick Johnston (Session Architecture), Shae Parker McCashen (Green Sheep Collective), and Jane Cameron Finlay (Jane Cameron Architects) and aims to empower small practice architects to expand their influence in shaping the built environment and communities across Australia.

The conference is organised into three themes:

1, PURPOSE IN PRACTICE
This session will delve into how a clear sense of purpose can drive meaningful change in small practices. It will explore how identifying and leveraging this purpose can help architects expand their practices, offer unique services, and achieve greater success.

2, COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE

3, EXPANDED PRACTICE

Discussions will center on engaging communities, making architecture more accessible, and adopting a mindset that enables architects to contribute to 100% of projects across Australia.

Practice Management and Professional Conduct
This unit of competency encompasses a holistic understanding of the organisation of the profession, practice and business of architecture, with the objective of providing value through sustainable, timely and effective professional services in accordance with the ethical and legal obligations of an architect to clients, colleagues, employees and to broader communities.
Units of Competency: PC1, PC2, PC3, PC4, PC5, PC6, PC7, PC8, PC9, PC10, PC11, PC12, PC13, PC14, PC15, PC16

Project Initiation and Conceptual Design
This unit of competency encompasses the intelligent, creative, iterative and culturally responsive processes of initiating a project and the early stages of design. This involves research, analysis and the exploration of approaches, design ideas and alternative solutions. It leads to a design concept that meets the client's brief, respects Country and is capable of compliance with planning controls and construction codes.
Units of Competency:PC17, PC 18, PC25, PC27, PC28,PC29, PC30, PC31, PC33, PC34, PC35

Detailed Design and Construction Documentation
This unit of competency encompasses the process of developing the design through research, detailed assessment of options and the integration of technical solutions, value and cost control processes to maintain or enhance the design intent. The final proposal is cohesive, fully described and resolved to achieve value and cost objectives, and compliance with planning controls and construction costs. 
Units of Competency:PC36, PC39, PC40, PC41, PC43, PC44, PC45

Design Delivery and Construction Phase Services
This unit of competency encompasses the provision of services to support the process of project execution through construction. This may occur through a variety of building procurement methods and construction contracts. The form of construction contract may establish different expectations and obligations upon the architect and may include contract administration services. Typically, all contract types includes the timely and cost-effective management of design delivery, review and inspection process.
Units of Competency:PC48, PC50, PC52, PC53, PC54, PC59, PC60

FAQ

I won't be able to make it to the conference, or might miss part of it, will there be a recording that I can catch up on?

Yes, there will be a recording. All ticket holders will receive a link to view it the following week alongside their CPD quiz to receive points. For anyone who isn't registered, it will be made available to purchase on CPD Online in a month's time.

How do I get my CPD points?
A CPD quiz will be sent alongside the session recording which you can complete. The quiz will be open for 2 weeks. Certificates will be sent out to those who have completed the quiz after it is closed. Please ensure to check your junk emails 

I no longer wish to attend the session, can I cancel my booking?
Yes, you can cancel and receive a refund by going to your Humanitix Order Confirmation email > Manage Order > Refund/Cancel.
