Architecture tour of Turner by Bike
Event description
An official 2025 Canberra and Region Heritage Festival event, presented by Australian Institute of Architects ACT chapter, Pedal Power, and Canberra by Bike
Join us for a unique bike tour exploring Canberra’s architectural landmarks. Starting at Clay Coffee Store in Turner, the tour will take participants on a journey through the city’s iconic modernist and culturally significant buildings. Stops include the historic Canberra House, the Finnish Lutheran Church, and the Canberra National Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where expert guides will share insights into the architectural design, historical context, and social roles of each site.
Along the way participants will have the chance to engage in discussions and ask questions about the buildings' impact on Canberra’s development and its cultural landscape. The tour will continue with visits to Havelock House, the Polish White Eagle Club and, if time permits, a stop at the Northbourne Flats, showcasing the city's post-war architecture.
The event will conclude at 12:00pm with a brief wrap-up, where participants can reflect on the day’s experiences, take a group photo, and provide feedback for future tours. Enjoy this wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in Canberra’s architectural history while enjoying the beauty of the city by bike.
