Architecture with Pride | Queerchitecture Tour #3 - Glebe
Description
Join Architecture with Pride for our third Queerchitecture tour on Gadi and Wan Country. Come along for a squizz inside three projects - Oxley Pool & Boatshed and Sullivan Spring House, both by Allied Office, and Lyndhurst Warehouse by Daniel Weber.
Oxley Pool & Boatshed
A quarter-Olympic-sized pool as secret sanctuary, tucked under a green roof providing rear curtilage to a significant Captain's house overlooking Rozelle Bay. The extensive landscape works culminate at the harbours edge, providing access to a new boatshed and existing foreshore, whilst addressing privacy and security concerns.

Sullivan Spring House
An extensive reworking of a 19th century heritage residence for a gallery owner and builder. Additions riff on dressing new volumes in a manner that references the ease and elegance of a Fortuny pleated gown. Across a courtyard, new works from ground up exploit the significant drop of the site with a large garage/store and 2 studios stacked above. The articulation of these works are a result of significant overlooking issues as well as exploiting a key-hole view out through to the Harbour.

Lyndhurst Warehouse
Designed for his family by self-professed "flaming homo", Daniel Weber, Lyndhurst Warehouse is a building that's had many lives. Built in 1910, the building was first used as a flour mill then furniture warehouse before becoming a recording studio. The Weber family then became custodians, living in the office spaces of the recording studio with their three adult sons. This informed the building's conversion into a 3-bedroom residence with private courtyard, and self-contained apartment, designed for privacy, access to natural light, and family entertaining.
Your registration fee goes directly to Mobilise, a platform supporting a national network of 50+ organisations housing those in need of shelter. With AWP matching all registrations, we aim to provide a night of safe housing to 25 individuals through this event.
This Queerchitecture Tour will take place on Gadi and Wan Country. Always was, always will be.
