Introduction to Radio Communications

Date: 9 - 13 November 2026
Daily time: 10:00 am–12:15 pm (AEDT)
Duration: 5 x 2.25hr sessions (11.25 hrs total)
Cost: ARCIA Member = $1320 +GST ; Non-member = $1650 +GST

This course introduces students to radio communication and associated technologies. Modules include an overview of radio service as a transmission media, how transmitters and receivers work, and an overview of wave propagation and radio antenna systems.

The information is introductory and designed for all audiences. Students will acquire a basic understanding of radio communications theory. This course is designed for students (individuals) who are new to the radio/critical communication industry.

Transmission Lines and Feeders
Filters and Multi-coupling
Tower and Site
Power Systems
Earthing
Interference
Data Networks and Linking
Radio Communications Testing and Equipment Maintenance
Standards and Quality Control

The information is introductory in nature and designed for all audiences. Participants will acquire a basic understanding of radio communications theory.

Attendees will be sent instructions with a link and any additional information required, such as workbooks, prior to the course start date.

After the completion of the course, attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance. After the course, an assessment will be distributed online, with answers submitted for marking by our course trainer. On completion of marking, those who achieve a pass will be issued with a Certificate of Competency, accredited by ARCIA.
