Are We Entering a Post-DEI Era?
Event description
The More Voices More Representation on International Women’s Day campaign is proud to be hosting an exclusive event which will launch its 2025 research report, and feature a panel discussion to shine a light on intersectional voices and experts—discussing if 2025 marks the beginning of a post-DEI era.
With Meta, McDonalds, Microsoft, and other major corporations around the world removing or reducing their DEI programs, many advocates, HR experts and working professionals have been forced to ask themselves — “What does this mean for me?”
In this jam-packed event, we’ll hear from Dharawal/Gumbaynggirr woman, Director of Rowena Welsh-Jarrett Consulting and Member of the NSW Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee, Rowena Welsh-Jarrett, about Aboriginal women’s role in the early development of the modern economy in Sydney, and the journey of First Nations communities as the pioneers in driving discussions around diversity and inclusion in this country.
Tiff Ng, Founder of The Social Story, will launch the latest findings from the campaign’s research, which detail the various complexities and nuances in how women across Australia are feeling included or excluded, and how this will impact their vote at the upcoming federal election.
Moderated by Brenda Gaddi, Founder of Women of Colour Australia, a panel of experts will then discuss what the current, previous and post-DEI eras mean for government, businesses, and everyday Australians, including:
- Are we living in a world of DEI backlash, or are the headlines different to what’s happening on the ground?
- Does DEI, how it is delivered and designed, need to change?
- What has the DEI sector achieved to date, and are we ‘on track’ for positive change in our workplaces?
- Have fundamental understandings of discrimination, equity and inclusion shifted, and what can we expect in 2025?
Speakers featured on the panel include:
- Néha Madhok, Founder and Lead Consultant at Neha Madhok Consulting and former Co-Founder and CEO of Democracy in Colour
- Prabha Nandagopal, Founder of SafeSpace@elevate and Elevate Consulting Partners
- Lisa Sarago, CEO and Co-Founder of Land on Heart and Land on Heart Foundation; Director of AI Indigenous Innovations; Founder of Tiddas in Tech
