Event description
Business as a Pathway to Employment
Learn how to start and run a business to increase your employability prospects.
Presented by Department of Youth Justice, Employment, Small Business and Training, and our DQW Davinia Vella as an experienced local business start-up coach and social entrepreneur.
The Queensland Department of Youth Justice, Employment, Small Business and Training’s purpose is to connect people to learning opportunities through quality training, employment opportunities and by helping small businesses to start, grow and thrive. Our local team can assist in linking you to local training and skills programs, potential employment opportunities and help small businesses link to someone or something that will assist.
The Sunshine Coast is known for its ‘gig’ economy, this means that while 9am-5pm jobs might be rare and far between there are abundant opportunities to make money and earn a living through services and small business opportunities. Over 30% of all business here is done by micro businesses, this often leads to more and better contacts. and sometimes to full time employment with companies who have used your service and know your worth. Starting a business can be scary and overwhelming, but this workshop is designed to give you the skills, information, and confidence to start small, lessen the risk and have a go at running your own business. The workshop will be delivered by Davinia Vella, a local business start-up coach and social entrepreneur for many years.
