Area 51 Futuro House Open Day
Event description
Book your free ticket to visit the Area 51 Futuro house in Ōhoka.
Newly listed with Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga as a Category 1 Heritage place, this open day is a chance for owner, Nick McQuoid, and Heritage New Zealand staff to share the history of this innovative modular building. It’s 50 years since two Futuro Houses welcomed guests to the 1974 Christchurch Commonwealth Games, but there’s so much more quirky history to discover.
Make sure you dress up in your best 70s gear. Nick is kindly offering a prize of one night’s free accommodation for an individual, couple or family who send in the best Futuro/costume photo from the day. (Entry details and email provided at the Open Day).
Spot prizes for groovy outfits!
Please park considerately along McRoberts Road and come in your ticket time slot.
This event is part of the Christchurch City Council's Heritage Festival 2024.
