Developed specifically for HDR students, this is the fourth in a series of four workshops that will help you understand and navigate the review of existing scholarly literature that forms one of the first stages of research.

This workshop focuses on four generic types of literature reviews found in the research literature, explaining the approaches to argument (rhetorical staging) of each type. It also provides insights into how literature reviews function within a larger research project versus when they are published as stand-alone analyses.

These materials will help prepare you for the workshop and ensure that you get the most benefit out of it. You'll have access to the whole "The Literature Review" module, but for this workshop you can focus on section 4, “Arguing your case.”
