    Event description

    This chess tournament is a FIDE and NZCF-rated event and is a 6 round Swiss, paired with the assistance of Vega. Time control is 90 minutes per player, per game, with a 30 second increment from move 1.

    Check-In
    Players must be at the venue for the players meeting or send a text message to the organiser on 0211289543 by 6:30pm or they will not be paired in the first round.

    Half-point Byes

    Players may request 1 half-point bye in rounds 1-4. If taking a half-point bye in round 1, please email the organiser to advise (canterbury@chess.org.nz).

    Prizes
    A total prize fund of $500 is guaranteed. This will be increased if entries allow. 1st: $200, 2nd: $120, 3rd: $80, U1700: $50, All Canterbury Champion: $50.

    The highest-placed Canterbury resident will be the All Canterbury Champion. Prizes will be shared between players on the same number of points - tie-breaks will not be used. Players may not win more than one open or grade prize, but may win the All Canterbury Championship prize as an additional prize.

    FIDE ID

    NZL players without a FIDE (world chess federation) ID number will have one issued following the event which will be published by FIDE after midnight CST on 1 June (ratings.fide.com) - players must be NZ citizens, residents or permanent residents to be eligible to be registered as NZL players. Non-NZL players must have a FIDE ID issued by their own federation to enter.
