Around the Bend Tour at Saltford Water Recycling Centre

Join Wessex Water for a tour ‘around the bend’ at Saltford Water Recycling Centre for a behind-the-scenes look at where your sewage goes after you flush the loo or pull the plug! You’ll be shown the full treatment process and how treated effluent is safely released back into the environment.

We’ll also be taking attendees on a nature walk around our new lagoons and wetland meadow to explain how we use nature to complement the treatment process and how we are improving local biodiversity.

The team at Wessex Water provide the unseen service of treating hundreds of millions of litres of sewage every day, so this is a unique and rare opportunity to look at how it’s done and ask questions with a guided tour from one of their operators.

The tours will be a maximum of 90 minutes and are suitable for all ages.
Ticket times: 2-3pm, 3-4pm, 4-5pm, 5-6pm.
Last entry is at 5.30pm.

Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and children 8 and under must be fully supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Pets are not permitted. Please wear suitable footwear such as trainers or walking boots – no open-toe shoes or high heels.

• The tour includes stairs and standing for extended periods of time. There are accessible toilet facilities on site.

Travel information

Parking on site is limited, so please car share with friends and family where possible. Secure bike stands are available at the farm. We are a 5-minute cycle from the popular Two Tunnel cycle path.
