'Art in the Afternoon’
We invite you to join celebrated Australian impressionist artist Peter Smales for a relaxed and informative Art Demonstration afternoon at Malvern Artists Society Gallery.
He is a highly qualified artist and sought after art tutor with over 30 years’ experience mentoring students to success at his Melbourne art studio.
Peter Smales is often referred to as one of Australia’s most successful contemporary Impressionists, renowned as a master colourist who chooses a high-key palette. Peter says “painting is all about light, the joy of seeing and capturing natures’ transient beauty.” His paintings embody an expressive spontaneity, precise brushwork and are a reinvention of traditional realism.
Viewers will observe Peter commence a new oil painting and see its development from a “work in progress” to completion. In the session the artist will share his art influences and unique approach to his art making process, including his thoughts on his own personal journey of self-expression.
We welcome art patrons of all levels of art appreciation! This experience supports group-learning and is ideal for participants seeking to connect with their creative community.
Light refreshments will be offered in this art session.
