Art for takayna - Artist Residency 2025
Event description
Immerse yourself in a unique four-day art residency within the spectacular landscapes of Tasmania's Takayna. Join a community passionate about finding and sharing inspiration amidst this incredible environment. Collaborate and connect with campaigners and activists from the Bob Brown Foundation, while camping in areas crucial to conservation efforts.
This residency asks participants to create works to be showcased at the 2025 Long Gallery exhibition 5 - 22 June 2025.
Blending artistic expression with meaningful support for conservation.
This event welcomes artists of all levels, aiming to use art as a powerful voice for environmental protection.

Once you have selected the ticket amount to contribute, you will be asked lots of questions to help us place you at the most relevant base camp suitable to your bush skills and have the best time on your residency.
Questions include:
- Your name, contact details and age.
- If you have any accessibility requirements or medical conditions we need to know about to keep you safe and well.
- What medium you like to work in eg: Photography, drawing, painting, film, sculpture, etc.
- If you would consider having your art used for the Bob Brown Foundation campaigns or not.
- What level of wilderness experience do you have?
Do you enjoy multi-day hikes, or prefer a base camp with basic kitchen and camp facilities you can drive to. - What type of base camp you would like to be placed at:
- a house on the edge of Takayna with bunk beds suitable for less mobile people (very limited placements).
- a base camp in Takayna with basic kitchen and camp facilities you can drive to.
- a multi day hike lead by expert guides deep into the Takayna Wilderness (very limited placements).
- You agree to bring appropriate sleeping arrangements such as a water proof tent or vehicle to sleep in, bedding, wet weather gear and warm clothing.
- Describe in 100 words or less your proposed artistic vision or concept for this field trip
(we understand that this may change) - If possible provide a link to some of your work
- Describe in 100 words or less, how your artistic practice will contribute to the campaign to protect Takayna after participating in the Art for Takayna field trip.
- Share any specific preferences for your camping arrangements, including individuals you'd like to share your space with or any particular requests for your camping companions.
