Art for Wellbeing - Therapeutic & Educational Workshop for Everyday Wellness - All Skill Levels

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Immerse in soothing creative exploration amongst community.

This workshop will guide you through simple & nurturing ways for everyday wellness-tending based on the neuroscience of art psychotherapy.

Come as you are - there no creative skills required, and materials are provided.

An Overview of our Time Together

The first activity will be a gentle check-in with Self while becoming acquainted with new ways of art-making.

We will then collectively wander through the foundations of art psychotherapy through activities you can personalise to your needs in the moment. These activities will offer present-moment support, while providing the building blocks for you to grow with in your own wellness practices.

The community workshop will come to a close with the opportunity to share your experience of the multi-modal journey that we immersed in together - a sweet gesture toward community-centred care, and the nourishment we can receive from holistic social connection.

Upon completion of the workshop, you will receive a digital guidebook of the activities to further integrate the practices you liked into your own wellness rituals.

This workshop is designed for all levels and experiences with creativity - welcoming in all those who are curious about how art-making can look different from the norm, and the simple ways it can offer deep nourishment in our everyday lives.

*Accessibility Note*
Prana House is accessed via a flight of stairs with a hand rail. If you might need support to move up the stairs you are welcomed to reach out, and we will organise further aids such as another person/people to walk up with you, or another aid of your suggestion.

As Matilda cultivates a decolonial practice, they would like to acknowledge that creative expression is a foundation woven through all eras & cultures, including on the lands in which we live, and therefore therapeutic art-making is not a new concept. "Art psychotherapy" is the expression of this cultural practice from a Western lens. The event will take place on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people, where we pay our respects to the traditional & ongoing custodians of Country, and offer our deep gratitude for our lives lived on this land. Sovereignty is not ceded and treaty has not been made.
