Art Forum with Creative Director: Emma Porteus

Emma is passionate about the transformative power of art to create meaningful change. With over 18 years of experience as a performance maker and producer, she has shaped dynamic dance, community, and festival projects across Australia and internationally, including with Vrystaat Festival (South Africa), ANTI Festival (Finland), Sydney Festival (NSW) Dancehouse, FOLA, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Next Wave (Vic), Tracks (NT), Dark Mofo, Mona Foma, Tasdance, Ten Days on the Island, Festival of Voices and Junction Arts Festival Tas). 

Currently, as Co-Creative Director of Assembly 197 and Executive Producer of Situate Art in Festivals, Emma is dedicated to developing bold, site responsive live art experiences. She’s driven by a desire to deepen the connection between people, place, and community, creating art that resonates with those who shape the environments where it comes to life. Through her role at Assembly 197, she’s redefining how performance can reflect the essence of a location and its people through authentic and immersive creative experiences.
