Event description

From Fashion to Urban Community Gardens: Designing scenarios for well-being

Humanity is facing complex social and environmental challenges. Designers, with their multidisciplinary training and unique practice-based methods, can use their tool kit to facilitate the necessary transitions needed for a sustainable future. To illustrate these possibilities, this forum will focus on two distinct yet related ecosystems: sustainable fashion and urban community gardens.

Thais Vieira is a Design professor at UFES in Brazil. Her education includes a bachelor's and master’s degree in design, a specialization course in fashion design, a doctorate in Engineering, partially studied at the Politecnico di Milano. Her main line of research and activity is the social innovations that promote solutions for sustainability, which can be enhanced with Strategic Design and/or Service Design. From this perspective, she analysed fashion in her doctorate, and also has been investigating and proposing solutions related to urban community gardens.

This event will be live at the Dechaineux LT, Hunter Street Campus and streamed to Rory Spence LT on the Inveresk Campus.  If you are unable to attend in person please join us via https://utas.zoom.us/j/8121585... Meeting ID: 812 1585 0688
