"From Paris to the Pyramids: a Graphic Novel Journey"
In this talk, Tony Flowers delves into the creative process behind bringing the adventurous tale of Divi and Frey to life in a graphic novel. This talk explores how the bustling streets of Paris and the ancient wonders of Egypt provided the backdrop for inspiration, alongside deep cultural immersion that enriched the storytelling experience. Learn how personal encounters, historical discoveries, and the vibrant traditions of these iconic destinations shaped the journey of writing and developing this graphic novel.
Tony is an illustrator /creator of over 50 books. His works are renowned for their vivid imagery and compelling narratives, often inspired by his travels and a keen dedication to cultural exploration.
Tony’s latest project, Divi and Frey and the Eye of Anubis, was created while he immersed himself in Parisian life during the prestigious Rosamund McCulloch residency. Delving further into Egyptian heritage through on-the-ground experiences, Tony wove the richness of these cultural landscapes into a graphic novel narrative that transports readers from Paris' enchanting architecture to the timeless mysteries of Egypt's ancient monuments.
This event will be live at the Dechaineux Lecture Theatre on the Hunter Street Campus and streamed live to the Rory Spence LT, Inveresk Campus.
