Art in the City | 'Metamorphosis'
Event description
This October, experience Metamorphosis: 'Ovid in Covid'—a unique afternoon of art and live music at Glenside's historic Z Ward.
Artist in Residence, National Trust of South Australia, and oboist Celia Craig has invited emerging Indigenous photographer, Finn Mellor, to create a landmark installation of twelve editorial portraits to illustrate each metamorphosis within several National Trust locations, including the founding homestead of South Australia.
The result: a dramatic installation introducing new emerging artistic talent with live performance by Celia in this unique location known for its immersive resonance—Z Ward, Glenside.
“Not only is this work unique in the oboe repertoire but it is one of the most distinctive examples of solo single-line instrumental writing from any age” - Anatomy of a Masterpiece, George Caird, Principal of Royal School of Speech and Drama, London
In Six Metamorphoses after Ovid by Benjamin Britten, six movements illustrate Ovid’s vivid retelling of Greek legends.
This event will comply with all current physical distancing recommendations and restrictions.
