Art in the Park with Gilbert RM Dashorst

Immerse yourself in the light and shapes of Deep Creek National Park as you develop your botanical illustration skills with an experienced local artist. Botanical Illustrator Gilbert RM Dashorst has years of experience creating detailed illustrations of the world around him and passing on his knowledge as a teacher.

Using pencils, you can choose to draw either a plant, a view of the park or an interesting object you might find, such as a rock or an old fence post. Under Gilbert’s guidance, and in the stunning surrounds of Deep Creek National Park, you will produce a piece of artwork to be proud of.

Materials will be provided at the event for you to use. This includes paper, pencils, and a drawing board. Please feel free to bring anything else you may wish to use if you would like. 

MEETING LOCATION

The events will be held at the Goondooloo Ridge Picnic Area. There is accessible parking and an accessible toilet available at the site.

Park of the Month attendees are exempt from park vehicle access fees but please make sure to provide your car registration number when you book your ticket.

WHAT TO BRING

Please be aware of the weather and environment and dress accordingly. Things to bring include:

• A stool to sit on (if required)
• Hat and sunscreen
• Sunglasses
• Appropriate clothing
• Snacks
• Personal medication
• Hand sanitiser
• Insect repellent

EVENT CANCELLATIONS

This park is closed on days of Cat­a­stroph­ic Fire Dan­ger and may also be closed on days of Extreme Fire Danger. In the case of park closure or other hazardous weather (and other) events, the walks will be cancelled, and you will be notified via Humanitix.
