Art Lab Term 4 (Age 9-12)
Description
For curious 9-12 year-olds who love to imagine, make, experiment and explore.
Not every child wants to spend their afternoon following instructions or working towards the same finished project.
At our Art Labs, we don't start with a project... we start with curiosity.
Children are invited to explore different materials, follow their own ideas, experiment, make mistakes, change direction and discover what happens along the way.
There is room for individual ideas, different ways of thinking and unexpected outcomes.
Through art and creative play, children practise making decisions, solving problems, persisting when things don't go to plan and trusting their own ideas; all while having fun and getting a little messy along the way. 🙃
Programme Details
Term 1: Tuesdays, 20 October - 8 December (8 sessions)
Time: 5-6 pm
Location: St. Chad's / Flourish
Cost: $230 per child, per term
What is Process Art?
Process art is less about creating a perfect finished product and more about the experience of creating.
Rather than everyone following the same instructions or copying the same example, children are encouraged to explore, experiment and make creative decisions of their own.
There isn't one "right" way to do things and everyone's work doesn't need to look the same.
Along the way, children naturally practise skills such as:
Creative and flexible thinking
Problem-solving and decision-making
Confidence in their own ideas
Persistence and patience
Emotional expression and regulation
Focus and concentration
Most importantly, they have space to play, imagine, experiment and enjoy the process of making.
About Your Facilitator
These classes are led by Franzi Maciej, founder of Imagine Play Inspire and an experienced teacher and creative facilitator.
With more than 20 years of experience working with children across Germany, the USA and New Zealand, Franzi creates warm, welcoming spaces where children can feel comfortable being themselves, trying new things and exploring their ideas.
Her approach is grounded in a simple belief: we don't need to teach children creativity, we need to make space for it.
What to Bring
Please send your child in comfortable clothing that can get messy, with a drink bottle and afternoon snack.
Spaces Are Limited
Small group sizes allow children to receive individual support while still enjoying the inspiration and energy that comes from creating alongside others.
Additional Learning & Support Needs
Our programme is designed to welcome a wide range of learners. If your child requires additional support to participate fully, we encourage the involvement of a parent, guardian or support person during sessions. Please feel free to get in touch with Franzi before enrolling to discuss your child's individual needs.
Please Note
This registration is for the full 8-week term programme.
Our classes require a minimum number of enrolments to go ahead. If we don't quite reach this number, we'll let you know before the term begins.
Cancellations made within 7 days of the first session are non-refundable. If Imagine Play Inspire needs to cancel a session due to unexpected circumstances, a make-up session will be offered where possible. If this isn't possible, you will receive a refund for the cancelled session.
