Description

Wollongong’s food waste legends Hidden Harvest invite you to our annual community art extravaganza: the Art of Food Waste! Join us as we leave our kitchens to play with food in a whole new context: Project Contemporary Gallery.

In collaboration with Healthy Cities Illawarra we’re bringing together a panel of interesting humans to chat about building food resilience in our communities. Hear insights from those actively contributing to building a stronger local food system, and explore what is needed to make things better now and in the future. We are over the moon to welcome:

🍊 Dr Amy Carrad

A researcher, sustainability-doer and “waste not” home chef that has been exploring the important intersection of community-based initiatives and government policy.

🍎 Berbel Franse

Founder of Hidden Harvest, Coordinator of community coalition Food Fairness Illawarra and driver behind the recently launched Wollongong Online Farmers Market, Berbel is a passionate advocate for a fairer, more resilient food system.

🍐 Cliodhna Maquire

A First Nations Community Greening Officer, Youth Engagement advocate and Gamalaraay woman who visits schools and communities across NSW to establish native gardens, productive food gardens and biodiverse green spaces.

🍋 Sarah Anderson

Founder and head gardener of Popes Produce and Director at the Flame Tree Community Food Co-op, Sarah blends a background of organic food retail, visual arts and hospitality to encourage people to enjoy fresh, happy food.

🍑 Rod Logan

Market Garden Coordinator at Green Connect and one of the drivers behind the Woonona Community Garden bringing fresh insights into organic commercial gardening.

🥪 GOURMET TOASTIES
Hidden Harvest’s art happens in the kitchen: we transform would-be wasted produce into gourmet toasties for your eating pleasure! Our toasties are made with love, and each serving helps us change waste into taste. Vegan & Vegetarian options available.

🍺 FRESH TINNIES
Local gin connoisseurs Births & Deaths have teamed up with South Coast Distillery to create a delicious gin tinnie for your sippin’ pleasure: Citriodora Explora. Bursting with notes of Lemon Myrtle, it’ll freshen your Sunday right up. We’ll also have non-alcoholic tinnies available.
