Travel instructions

Bus: The number 80, 100 and 5 buses travel down Main South or Springs Road. Get off when you see the orange and silver Harvard aircraft on a pole, then walk for 200m down Harvard Avenue. If you get off at the bus stop on Springs Road around the corner, walk down Henry Wigram Drive, past Wigram Base (former RNZAF Officers’ Mess), until you get to Harvard Avenue. The Museum is straight across the road. For more information about planning your journey to the Museum, head to the Metro Bus website or contact us directly. Car: from the city centre head south on Riccarton Road until it turns into Main South Road. Continue down Main South Road until you get to the Sockburn roundabout. Continue on Main South Road through the roundabout and over the Sockburn bridge. About 200m from the bridge turn left onto Harvard Avenue. On the corner you will see signage for the Air Force Museum and an aircraft installed on a pole. Behind that is a petrol station. The carpark and main entrance to the Museum is on the left hand side, about 300m from the corner of Main South Road and Harvard Avenue.

Entry instructions

Enter the Museum through the glass sliding doors at the front of the Museum. You will be greeted by Museum staff who will direct you through the Museum display areas to the room where the activities will take place. From the main Museum entrance to the door leading into the activity area there are no stairs to navigate. There is one section where you will need to walk down a wide boardwalk, which has ramp access at each end. The double doors to the room will be open, with signage up to identify you are in the right spot. A map of the Museum is available to assist with navigating the Museum display areas.
