This introductory workshop, led by Wong Ching Yee (Jenny) 黃靜儀, invites participants to discover the unique properties of clay as a material, explore ceramics as a process, and gain an appreciation of the many languages and expressions of clay.

There will be a hands-on making session in which participants will experiment with foundational hand-building techniques (pinching, coiling, and slab building). Jenny will also share insights from her studio practice - from practical considerations to the more philosophical and esoteric dimensions.

At the conclusion of the session, participants will be invited to participate in creating a collaborative, site-responsive, ephemeral installation with their clay experimentations.

Please note this is a clay play workshop focused on experimentation, material exploration and process rather than creating a finished ceramic object. There will be no raw or kiln-fired products created to take home.
