Artist Support Group
Description
A fortnightly meet up where artists and creatives find support in navigating how to live the most fulfilling version of their creative expression.
This includes:
Sharing where you’re blocked, struggling or meeting inner resistance and seeking advice or feeling less alone by sharing community
Gaining confidence in sharing your ideas or art, asking for feedback or seeking critiques
Being held accountable for what you’re working on, by having a fortnightly group to report your progress too
Sharing skills with creating, techniques or materials
Open to any gender or age who identifies as an artist or creative whether you are a hobby artist, amateur or professional.
The main aspect I’m looking to create is a community of artists who want to purposely work on their creative practice and find it hard to do in isolation, whether it be from questioning yourself, inner resistance or needing the accountability and support of other people and external deadlines.
My name is Amy, I’m an artist. I’ve got half a degree in visual art from QCA, however I stopped to have a baby a few years ago. I’ve worked in creative industries for over 2 decades spanning graphic design, fashion design, trend forecasting, teaching art workshops, NDIS art mentoring and art therapy. I sometimes find it hard to work and create in isolation but I can’t afford a shared studio space right now.
I also sometimes find it to reflect on my own creative voice and style and stay accountable to doing what I say I want to do! I think maybe a lot of artists feel the same? I’m a deep feeler and thinker - always reflecting on life. There’s a certain spirituality to my creative practice as well as a playfulness and using art to make meaning of my life. Looking for others who feel similar.
I've capped it at 10 people so everyone has a chance to speak and share.
Coffee and snacks available to buy at Paper Moon to support the venue for hosting.
Please feel free to bring some work you'd like to share or get feedback on or makes notes to what you'd like support or help with.
