Julia Kennedy-Bell - My practice so far has sought to resolve formal oppositions via abstraction. As well as the interpretation of the many and varied results and their associations to meanings and references in the continuum of personal experience, history and culture and the contemporary context. This is explored through a variety of media such as paintings, drawing, ceramics and paper installation. Of particular concern is developing my own personal language that has a set of its own differential marks, values and colours. These qualities of difference impart sensations and associations and become sites of interaction between the logical, the emotional and of the sensory and perception. This also concerns the way in which meanings are created as well as their absences.
