Description

Come and learn about the Arts Makers Aotearoa Artist Fees guidelines, and resources available. We will talk about how they came about, how they are being used, and how you can use them as an advocacy tool to get paid! A practical artist to artist workshop, there will be opportunity to share our experiences, tips, and work together to make sure we are getting paid what we are worth for our creative practice, as well as what we can share and resources that can help support us.

The event will be held in the screening room at Enjoy from 6 - 8pm with a break in the middle. There is a limited capacity in this space. Pens and paper will be provided.

Siân Quennell Torrington (them/them, she/her, Tangata Tiriti, Welsh, German, Scottish) is an artist who explores how to express feelings through drawings and sculptures to embody an anti-shame practice by making what is internal external and visible to others. An ongoing project public art project is ‘How is your Heart’, where audiences put on a wearable sculpture, to express and share without words how they feel in this moment. Holding space and sharing creative processes is part of her practice, enabling conversation, connection, and collective imagination. Siân developed and regularly runs Queer and Trans drawing class, and has run many public workshops addressing social change and wellness through collective creativity.

Siân has regularly exhibited nationally and internationally, been awarded two international and one national artist residency, and graduated with an MFA with distinction from Massey University in 2010.
