Artist in Residency with Possum (Renee) Rose

Creative Edge Art Collective is proud to host this NAIDOC Week exhibition and we are grateful for the opportunity to share our Aboriginal artists work and stories with our local community. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and live. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.

About Possum (Renee) Rose:

As an artist, Renee Rose finds solace and inspiration in the majesty of nature. "The intricate patterns, vibrant colors, and raw beauty of Mother Earth fuel my creativity, and I am constantly in awe of her splendor."

Her artistic journey is deeply rooted in the land of her ancestors, the central coast of Western Australia, where the Nanda tribe once thrived. This sacred land, nestled near the mouth of the Murchison River, holds a special significance for Renee, as it was the home of her great-grandmother, a proud Nanda woman who suffered the injustices of the Stolen Generation.

Through her art, she seeks to honor the legacy of her great-grandmother and the rich cultural heritage of her people. "I strive to capture the essence of the natural world, infusing my work with the vibrant colors, textures, and patterns that evoke the beauty of the land and its people."

Renee will be in the gallery on Friday, 18th July from 9:00 am-5:00 pm.

Tickets allow you to come in at any time on the day, and refreshments will be provided.

The exhibition will be running from the 10th July until 31st July 2025, with a variety of events;

Thursday 10th July: Exhibition Open Night

Friday 11th July: Artist in Residency w/ Richard Websdale

Monday 14th July; Artist in Residency w/ Possum Rose

Tuesday 15th July: Little Possum's Create - Indigenous Artwork with Possum Rose (Art workshop for ages 5-8)

Tuesday 15th July: Possum's Create - Indigenous Artwork with Possum Rose (Art workshop for ages 9-15)

Wednesday 16th July: Artist in Residency w/ Possum Rose

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. As we celebrate this milestone, we look toward the next 50 years with excitement and confidence, while everyday ensuring that NAIDOC remains a movement grounded in community-led vision and integrity.
