Join exhibiting artists as they discuss their artworks and practices in relation to the exhibition Angels in Exile and its themes, including occult modernism, sacred texts, and spaces for healing.
Angels in Exile is an exhibition explores the concept of paradise and how queer communities create safe and joyful spaces. It references John Milton's poem ‘Paradise Lost’ to question the impact of religious stories on ethics and politics, whilst drawing parallels to the historical persecution of queer people. It also looks at how queer resistance can challenge exclusion and discrimination, using celestial figures and rebel icons as sources of empowerment.
