Artist Talk | Build, Burn, Repeat | Tom O'Hara
Event description
Join us at Thor’s Hammer for an afternoon chat with artist Tom O’Hara, as he takes us inside the ideas and processes behind Build, Burn, Repeat.
With a background spanning trade work to gold and silversmithing, Tom has developed a practice that explores the rules and unpredictability of working with wood and fire. He’ll share how his methods first took shape during his studies at RMIT, before evolving through his PhD research at the ANU School of Art & Design into the richly layered works he creates today.
Through images, examples, and stories, Tom will discuss the role of material, complexity, ambiguity, and mystery in his process, as well as the artistic and natural influences that continue to shape his work. He’ll also offer a glimpse into what’s next in his creative journey.
Bring your curiosity — there’ll be time for questions and conversation at the end.
