    Event description

The Glassworks Artist Talk series is an opportunity for artists in our Artistic Program to share their experiences and experimentations with the arts community in an informal presentation.
This public talk will be held in the Canberra Glassworks foyer with light refreshments available. Everyone is welcome and there are absolutely no silly questions. We are all here to learn.

In collaboration with Canberra Glassworks, Elliot Bastianon and Hannah Gason will use their residencies to develop works to be shown at Melbourne Design Fair in 2025. Erin Conron joins us from QLD as part of Artisan Brisbane's artist residency supported by Queensland Arts.

    ELLIOT BASTIANON, Artist in Residence

Based on Ngunnawal and Ngambri country (Canberra), Elliot Bastianon is a designer and artist working in commercial furniture, sculpture and research driven projects. Working with a variety of materials, Elliot established his furniture company, Furnished Forever, in 2017 and is currently undertaking a PhD in Visual Arts at the Australian National University.

    HANNAH GASON, Artist in Residence

Based on Ngunnawal and Ngambri country (Canberra), Hannah Gason is a glass artist and Glassworks Studio Tenant specialising in kiln forming and cold working. Hannah’s art practice is an exploration of the subtle changes and rhythms of the everyday, such as gradual shifts in light and repeating patterns. Using kiln forming processes, each work is made up of unique glass tiles that contain fluidity and variations of tonal intensity. The tiles are carefully arranged to form the larger plane, a flat surface that projects movement and depth. The result is a series of horizontal and vertical bands, that seemingly overlap, sliding back and forth over each other in a constant shuffle.

ERIN CONRON, Artisan Artist in Residence

Originally from in Kamberri (Canberra), Erin Conron is a glass artist based on Gubbi Gubbi Country (Sunshine Coast), Queensland. She was awarded an established artist residency by Artisan to work at Canberra Glasworks. Erin has been involved in numerous national and international exhibitions, a finalist in numerous awards and has been acquired internationally. Erin continues to develop her practice from her recently established studio and will show new work at Artisan in Brisbane in November.
