Artist talk: Formidable Beauty | Maya Tamang

Join us for an engaging artist talk with Maya Tamang (also known as Miss Martha), as she discusses her solo exhibition Formidable Beauty, showcasing her latest works at Montsalvat. 

Maya, an emerging artist from Melbourne (Naarm), creates powerful portraits that embody her love for 1930s and 1940s fashion, cinema, and her lived experience with autism and mental health challenges. Her subjects—often reflecting her own personality and inner strength—stare boldly at the viewer, balancing vulnerability with a fierce, unapologetic presence. Maya’s work has drawn attention for its genuine, expressive style, capturing complex emotions and timeless allure.
