coincides with her exhibition The indoor garden: towers of hope at the Ridge St Window Gallery (43 Ridge St North Sydney)

Hear from Gabby Malpas about her development of ideas and art making, to explore and tell her own complicated story.  Gabby Malpas is a Chinese adoptee raised by white parents in New Zealand. In her work she considers and challenges the centuries old, western tradition of Chinoiserie. Initially familiar in a blue and white traditional Chinese style, the works have references to Australia and an Australian aesthetic. Gabby creates her own stories within her artwork.
