Jane Brettle: A Life Through Practice
Jane will discuss the development of her work with Alice Bain and Nicky Bird the two main contributors to the publication Ambit: a work in Progress. The discussion will focus on the publication as a source for exploring a life through practice.
Alice Bain is a writer/editor. She established and curates the artist space Mote102 in Leith, Edinburgh. She was previously the founding editor of MAP magazine, editor at The List, and contributor to titles including The Herald, The Guardian, and more specialist art magazines. www.mote102.com
Nicky Bird is an artist/writer. She was a Reader in Contemporary Photographic Practice at the Glasgow School of Art and a co-coordinator of the GSA’s Reading Landscape research group. Recent exhibitions of hers include The Women’s Art Collection, The National Galleries of Scotland, Street Level Photoworks. Recent published writings of hers include contributions to Visual Culture in Britain, Flat Time House, Routledge, and Transcript Verlag. www.nickybird.com
