Artist Talk - Leila Frijat
Event description
Join us for this free artist talk, with Leila Frijat, as part of the Summer Artist Residency Program at Gorman Arts Centre. Engage with some of her creative prototypes and join her in discussion as she explores the intersection between art, technology, and human experience.Â
Leila Frijat is an artist based in Sydney, Gadigal Country, who works across illustration, design and installation. Her multi-disciplinary practice is largely led by curiosity, experimenting with new mediums and methods of making that pique her interest. Through speculative inquiry, she unravels impossible-to-answer questions and strives to create ‘useless’ objects.
In this talk, Frijat will delve into her exploration of ‘soft’ interactions with technology through art. Challenging the emerging relationship between humans and machines, she considers how agency and control can be shifted in our relationship with technology. Audience members will have the opportunity to engage with an early-stage prototype of the installation work developed as part of Frijat's residency, and are invited to offer their own reflections.
