Artist Talk: Peter Wegner - The Centenarian Series

Peter Wegner: The Centenarian Series. Presented by Nillumbik Shire Council and Montsalvat

Join us for a presentation by award-winning figurative artist, painter, printmaker and sculptor, Peter Wegner.

Peter will talk about the Centenarian Series; a project that began in 2013 with a drawing of his 104-year-old Aunty Rita and continues today with over 100 drawings of Centenarians completed. His painting of centenarian artist, Guy Warren, was awarded the Archibald Prize in 2021.

Peter will present the project, the process, the works, and the inspiration he receives from the people he draws.

Peter holds a Master of Fine Art from Monash University. His work has been exhibited in many galleries including the National Portrait Gallery, London and the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra. Peter has completed several Artist in Residences including the Citre International Paris, Bundanoon, and Hill End Residency, and his works have been acquired for dozens of collections including the Art Gallery of NSW, Heide Museum of Modern Art and the National Portrait Gallery Canberra. The Great Hall Gallery has steps at its entrance and is located a short walk on a gravel pathway of moderate decline from the entrance to Montsalvat. Temporary ramps are available and accessible car parking can be allocated. Accessible toilets are available in the courtyard behind the Barn Gallery.
