Artist Talk: Simon Cutler

Join us at chapter to hear from our current exhibiting artist, Simon Cutler, all about his first solo exhibition, Afterimage. Held in conversation with curator Felix Reid, this is a great opportunity to meet the artist and learn more about his work, inspirations and making process.

Afterimage investigates the malleability of memory and how images shift as we view, remember and portray them. Presented as a series of eight large-scale paintings, Cutler challenges the demand of rapid image creation and consumption in contemporary society, asking audiences to pause and look closely as afterimages of memory gradually reveal themselves throughout each artwork.

This talk will be held at chapter on Sunday 17 May from 12pm to 1.30pm.

Simon Cutler (@si.moncutler) is a Magandjin/Brisbane-based artist whose practice explores the relationships between representation, subject and context through painting and drawing.
