    Event description

Brennan Buck from FreelandBuck will speak about the artist team’s public artwork Tunnel Vision realized for the new WMATA (or Metro) office building in Alexandria, VA that officially opened last fall.

Suspended from the ceiling and positioned in the southwest corner of the building’s lobby, Tunnel Vision can be experienced from the lobby, the street, and the adjacent plaza. From each of these viewpoints, the artwork alludes to the Metro stations in dramatically different ways: from the side as a convex object that loosely evokes the coffered stations and Metro's gridded logo, and from below as a concave volume making the station clearly visible and emphasizing its dramatic one-point perspective.

The event is jointly hosted by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)’s Art in Transit Program and the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts.
