Artists in Conversation: Pathways Through Creative Practice brings artists into the Duldig Studio to reflect on memory, identity, culture and change, offering insight into the processes and perspectives behind their work.

Memory + Transitions, with Cyrus Tang

In this opening talk, Cyrus Tang reflects on the evolving relationship between memory, identity, and material.

Working across photograph, video and installation, Tang's work explores memory, impermanence and the shifting nature of identity. In this talk, she will reflect on the personal experiences that have informed her practice, tracing the connections between past and present, permanence and change.

Through this conversation, Tang offers insight into a practice shaped by in-betweenness. Between cultures, between presence and absence, inviting audiences to consider how creative work can hold what is fragile, fleeting, and deeply felt.

Cyrus Tang is a Hong Kong-born artist based in Melbourne, working across installation, sculpture, video, and photography. Her practice explores memory, identity, and transformation, shaped by her experience of living between cultures. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts and Monash University, she has exhibited widely, including Melbourne Now and PHOTO Festival, and undertaken international residencies across Europe, Asia, and North Africa. She is currently represented by Arc One Gallery.
