Attend the Arts For All Bay of Plenty Network hui on Tuesday 25 August from 10:00am-12:30pm in Tauranga.
Hui information
Arts For All Network regional hui are an annual opportunity for local artists, arts workers and arts lovers to get together to connect and share goals, plans and ideas about increasing access in the arts to Deaf and disabled people. The disabled-led hui is hosted by Katie Querin, Whakahohe a Toi Ōritetanga | Arts For All Activator for Arts Access Aotearoa. You can read more about Arts For All on our website.
Katie will share information and updates about arts accessibility in Aotearoa and beyond. We will also hear from several Arts For All Network members to learn what's happening with arts accessibility in the Bay of Plenty region.
This relaxed and welcoming hui is for anyone working in, curious or passionate about accessibility and inclusion in the arts, including organisations, Deaf and disabled people and non-disabled people. Some will have extensive lived experience, others are completely new to arts accessibility, and many in between. You don't have to be an Arts For All Network member- all are welcome.
With plenty of time for learning, sharing, and networking, it's a great opportunity to share your mahi, advocate to decision makers, and brainstorm how we can remove barriers in both small and big ways.
Accessibility
The hui space is wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilets, and any visual content in the presentations will be audio described. Attendees are welcome to bring fidget toys, comfort items, and whatever they need to be comfortable. Service dogs are welcome. If you are bringing a support person, please let me know when you register. More details are available on Baycourt's accessibility page.
NZSL interpreters may be available for the hui- if you require an NZSL interpreter, please let me know ASAP so I can book them. Please get in touch so I can answer any further accessibility questions.
Tea and biscuits are provided, and there's no cost to attend. If you are a Deaf or disabled person needing financial support to attend the hui, or if you'd like to offer support to others who may not otherwise be able to attend, there are options available for this on the registration page.

Katie is a disabled person who has a background working in theatre and performing arts accessibility, and she brings both lived and professional experience to her mahi in the Arts For All Network.

- Getting there
The hui will be at Baycourt Community and Arts Centre at 38 Durham Street, Tauranga.
Two mobility parks are available on Durham Street, right outside Baycourt.

Baycourt’s main entrance, foyer, bathrooms and X Space are all level with the footpath.
There's limited on-street parking on Durham Street and as well as near by Hamilton, Willow and Spring Streets. Parking fees apply Monday to Friday, 8am until 5pm. You can pay using nearby parking machines or the PayMyPark app. Make sure you check any time limits on signage (e.g. P15, P30, P60 or P120) so you don’t get caught out.

- Attendance contribution for Deaf and disabled attendees
Arts Access Aotearoa can make a contribution towards travel or support costs for Deaf or disabled people who would like to attend the hui but are not being paid by an organisation to attend. For more info, please email afa@artsaccess.org.nz or call on 04 802 4349.
