Description

ArtsACTION Warrnambool is an interactive, in‑person workshop series created especially for artists, creatives, arts workers & arts organisations.

It has been tailored for Warrnambool in recognition of the region’s huge creative talent - & the known shared challenges around marketing, collaboration, audience growth, business skills & accessing creative spaces.

Whether you're a visual artist, musician, writer, performer, maker, designer, filmmaker, creative producer, arts worker, or part of a community arts group, you're invited to take part in this energising, practical & inspiring two‑day workshop program - designed specifically for Warrnambool’s vibrant creative community.

Across two practical days you will:

·         Find clarity about your creative career direction

·         Build some essential skills to navigate arts pathways

·         Strengthen your teamwork & collaborations

·         Grow your audience & visibility

·         Clarify goals & practical next steps

·         Build confidence in your approach to challenges

·         Connect with fellow creatives - musicians, writers, artists, performers, makers & more

 

Your free registration is valued at $600 and includes attendance at the workshop, arrival tea and coffee, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day.

The Warrnambool Library and Learning Centre is an accessible venue located at 8 Kepler Street, within the South West TAFE campus.

Thanks to the Fletcher Jones Family Foundations, Regional Arts Victoria and Warrnambool City Council, this event is free to attend as part of the Creative Warrnambool strategic priorities.

  • Sharon Seyd – Program Designer & Facilitator

    Sharon Seyd – Program Designer & Facilitator

    Sharon is an Arts Business Specialist & Producer with over 35 years’ experience in the creative industries. She has founded & led three arts & production organisations, producing hundreds of high-profile projects across theatre, film & live events, collaborating with some of the world’s most prestigious artists & companies. Alongside her producing work, Sharon has a deep committed to creative career education. Through her long-running consultancy Mosaic (est. 1997) & teaching roles at the VCA, University of Melbourne & Deakin University, she has delivered practical, business training for creatives - with for more than a decade. Sharon’s passion lies in supporting creative professionals to lead with confidence, strengthen their skills & build sustainable careers. She has designed the ArtsACTION Warrnambool program & will facilitate the two-day experience.

  • Karen Corr – Program Director & Engagement Lead

    Karen Corr – Program Director & Engagement Lead

    Karen is a skilled project manager, facilitator & community engagement specialist, with over 17 years’ experience leading entrepreneurial initiatives & capacity-building programs. As Executive Director of Jumpleads & founder of Make a Change, she has supported hundreds of individuals & organisations across regional & metropolitan areas to shape ideas, activate projects & strengthen their communities. Karen is also Deputy Mayor in the City of Greater Bendigo & serves as the Council representative on the Bendigo Art Gallery Board. A trained engineer, she has also studied Business Development & Entrepreneurship with The Entourage - one of Australia’s leading business coaching organisations - applying these learnings to grow her own social enterprise initiatives & support others to do the same. Karen brings extensive experience in community engagement, participation & creative sector development, ensuring the program is grounded, relevant & highly practical. She has worked closely with Sharon to shape content that supports creatives to turn ideas into action.

  • Anton Hassel

    Anton Hassel

    Anton Hasell is a professional artist whose studio research and experimental practice underpins his interactive and playful public-space artworks. He has taught in tertiary art schools and is an Adjunct Professor at RMIT University. Best known for the co-creation of the Federation Bells Carillon in Melbourne (www.federationbells.com.au), Anton recently completed the invention, casting and tuning of a musical set of ‘difference tone’ bells for the visionary Longnow Foundation’s 10,000 Year Clock project in Texas (www.longnow.org, & https://youtu.be/pKuJBGb_pN4 ) Anton’s practice as an artist, and as director of Australian Bell, a new-design bell-making company, explores resonant sound-forms, objects and architectures that help tune people into a site’s unique spatial ambience. His use of sophisticated digital design tools and modern manufacturing technology, in combination with a long experience in traditional craft technologies, has opened up new creative possibilities in the arts/craft/design field. This interest in technology underpins Anton’s productive collaborations with other artists, designers and scientists.
