Arts Under the Mountain is an annual outdoor arts festival created to promote and celebrate the local artistic community in and around the historic spa town of Te Aroha. With over 50 artists participating there will be a huge variety of artworks to view and purchase including sculpture, embroidery, paintings, pottery, ceramics, etchings, photography, metalwork, glasswork, and repurposed mixed media and engineered creations. In many cases you will also have the opportunity to meet the artists and discuss their practices and artworks with them.

On view and available to purchase at Tintype Central will be a series of hand crafted images created using a 19th century method of development that predates film photography.  Wet plate portrait sessions will also be made available to anyone interested in experiencing how portraits were made during the Victorian era.
