Four exciting genre-breaking bands take the stage at Nighthawks for an afternoon show that is not to be missed!

BLACK DIME CABARET

The brain-child of Brandon Young, a theatrical and thrilling progressive rock tale that is as sweeping as it is immersive. It is often compared to bands such as The Dear Hunter, My Chemical Romance, Oingo Boingo, and The Decemberists. Yet while their epic concept album sequence (beginning with Act I: Nefarious Schemes to Murder Lady Midnight) provides the core of Black Dime Cabaret, the story is enhanced by an ambitious multiverse spanning side projects and books.

FABULOUS CONTRAPTION

A living, breathing machine constructed from modern jazz, experimental metal and progressive rock. Their music moves from slick and streamlined to primordial chaos, from calmly hypnotic grooves to frenetic punk chaos. You’ll hear soaring solos, open-structured improvisations, intricate synthesiser and guitar lines, dirty grooves, and all manner of metric mayhem.

“Sydney instrumental quartet scaling death-defying scaffolds of electric guitar, Moog synthesizer, six-stringed bass and drums." Michael Dwyer, the Age and Sydney Morning Herald.

“They are fantastic. No more, no less.” - Alive 90.5 FM

CHAOS THEORY ORCHESTRA

A four piece Alt-Fusion band, hailing from the North-East suburbs of Naarm/Melbourne. Their style is an amalgamation of intricate drums, thoughtful harmony, and concise melody. With influence from such artists as Yussef Dayes, Radiohead, and Hiatus Kaiyote, they are sure to enamour you with their eclectic groove. Their sound is continually evolving - you won’t want to miss their set!

Their sound is steadily evolving - You may have heard our music before, but we've been working hard on a revised sound, something that you wouldn't want to miss......keep your eyes and ears peeled.

AND A SURPRISE GUEST

This band is a powerhouse of the Melbourne progressive rock scene, bringing theatre, drama, and a melodic and manic blend of progressive/alternative rock music, with hints of jazz, metal and more!

“__________ are loud and dense: heavy prog or prog metal… that skips a generation to Tool, Dream Theatre, Opeth and others…” Michael Dwyer, the Age and Sydney Morning Herald.
