As You Like It

Lanes Coven Theater Company presents Shakespeare’s As You Like It at Windhover Performing Arts Center in Rockport. Directed and adapted by M. Graham Smith and performed under a tent on the scenic grounds, this lively staging places audiences in the heart of the Forest of Arden—embracing nature as part of the performance and honoring the company’s belief that, “after an audience, nature is a Shakespeare actor’s best tool.”

With their signature reimagined style, Lanes Coven brings playful intimacy to this beloved comedy of disguise, romance, and transformation. As You Like It is Shakespeare at his most playful, experimental, and profound. Young people escape the autocratic dystopia of the city court to find a better way of life in the forest, and to find love! Gender norms unravel, characters live in exile with their chosen family, and love abounds, in all its messy, confusing, and downright silly forms.

Bring a picnic, settle in under the tent, and enjoy an evening of Shakespeare in the open air. Bug spray, a warm layer, and a sense of wonder encouraged.
