Enduro Builders have created the second Certified Passive House in South Australia, and the first display home of its type in the state. This home was built to show-case that you can build a passive house in Australia without importing windows, while using as much locally available materials as possible. This display home was provided for the general public to view and experience a Passive House and showcases not only the energy efficient properties of their work but also the high quality finishes.
The site was selected because of its seemingly ideal, but in reality poor solar orientation. Where the north and south orientations of the property are long, however, there is a two storey home completely shading the house to the north and the house has east-facing, elevated views. This made it the perfect place to show the power of the Pillars of a Passive House in practice.
