This session will help participants better understand the vital role of native bees and how their garden can become a safe, buzzing haven for these important pollinators.

Topics include:

How to design bee-friendly gardens using local native plants
Nesting needs and habits of solitary native bees
Key plants that provide nectar throughout the year
Common native bee species you’re likely to spot in your area
Simple garden features to support bees (e.g. bare soil, bee hotels, water sources)

Based on Kaurna Country on the Fleurieu Peninsula, Habitat Connection Co. helps people reconnect with nature by creating gardens that support native wildlife and strengthen local biodiversity. Through hands-on workshops and community education, we empower individuals to turn their own backyards into thriving habitat spaces.

Founded by Hannah Jones, a conservation and horticulture professional with over twelve years’ experience in consulting, design and environmental education, Habitat Connection Co. brings together a passion for native plants, ecology, and inspiring others to care for the natural world.
