ASCA ARTISAN CHEESEMAKERS' CONFERENCE 2024: Bus tour to the Huon Valley (Optional)

The Australian Specialty Cheesemakers' Association (ASCA) welcome you to our 2024 conference. Every two years, ASCA host a conference for the artisan cheese industry. This year, we are headed to Tasmania! We have a terrific program lined up for you, with a mix of social, educational, inspirational and technical sessions along with practical bus trips to visit local cheesemakers in the region. We commence the program with an optional bus tour of the Huon Valley to visit local cheesemakers and try some of the famous wines Tasmania is famous for.
Day tour: Huon Valley Cheesemakers' Tour (Optional)
We kick off our conference event with an optional, social & educational bus trip to the beautiful Huon Valley where we will be visiting local cheesemakers Grandvewe Cheese for a sheep cheese tasting and whey spirit tasting at the Grandvewe Tasting House. We will also visit the Glen Huon Dairy Co (home of C2 raw milk cheese). Along the way we will be stopping for lunch at the famous Huon Valley Apple Shed, for shared grazing platters and will pop into Kate Hill Wines on the way home for a special winetasting.
Transport by coach - pick up and drop off from Elizabeth St Pier in central Hobart.
Lunch, cheese & spirit tastings and wine tastings all included.
Bus Tour Itinerary:
10am Depart Hobart from Elizabeth St Pier, Hobart
10.45 Grandvewe Cheese: cheese and sheep whey spirit tasting at Grandvewe Tasting House
12.15 – 1.15pm Lunch at Willie Smith Apple Shed (shared grazing plates and option to purchase their local brews)
1.20 – 2.30 pm Glen Huon Dairy Co Cheese Factory – raw milk hard cheese facility tour
2.35 –3pm Wine tasting at Kate Hill wines
4pm back in Hobart
Note: As we will be visiting farms, please bring appropriate footwear and hat if desired, and your own water bottle.
