ASEAN Australia Education Dialogue (AAED) 2024

In December 2024 Australia's Asean Focus Group (AFG VG) and the ASEAN University Network will welcome delegates to Vientiane the capital of Laos, this year's chair of ASEAN. 

AAED 2024 provides an opportunity for thought leaders, key government officials, business representatives and education stakeholder from ASEAN and Australia, to come together to share partnership ideas, build connections, and identify new regional opportunities.

The ASEAN Australia 50th Anniversary Summit was hosted by the Australian Prime Minister in Melbourne in March 2024 and celebrated 50 years of Australia as ASEAN’s first dialogue partner:

"ASEAN binds our region together and Australia is committed to being an exemplary partner to the countries of Southeast Asia – we will continue to be constructive, and to engage with respect, honesty and trust, and importantly, to listen.

Acknowledging the importance of partnerships in international education, AAED 2024 will convene under the banner:

“Strengthening ASEAN Australia Regional Education Partnerships - Achieving Active Outcomes 2025-2027”.

The Dialogue focus areas align with ASEAN and Australian education sector priorities.

The Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the Lao Ministry of Education and Sport have confirmed their support for AAED 2024.
