Asexual Fantasies & Hopeless Aromantics. An ASPEC CABARET
Event description
TasPride's Artfully Queer Exhibition & Arts Program presents:
Asexual Fantasies & Hopeless Aromantics. An ANASPEC CABARET
A self-written solo cabaret Sophie Harvey fresh from the Butterfly Club in Melbourne
Sophie Harvey is a musical theatre performer. She's also an asexual who is constantly figuring out if she is on the aromantic spectrum. Join her for an evening of exploration of her identity through music. In realising and exploring her own sexuality, Sophie was confronted by the lack of representation there is for aspec people, especially in musical theatre, an art form she loves so much. So, she brings a cabaret that will be viewed through an aspec lens, with stories from her childhood to now. The cabaret will feature an eclectic mix of songs from Golden Age soprano to Queen, from indie to contemporary musical theatre.
“With a voice that can just as easily melt you with soprano as it can rouse you with theatrical bravado, Harvey humbly commands the space” - Deanna Amato, thetheatre.au
